£2000 for the cheapest tx, hope they are not at frequency it will just buzz, good for a community station, wonder why the link tx is cheaper, surely it should be the opposite way round with it been out of band.

No I don't think that site you posted is connected Senór tvtv - they actually have a broadcast warehouse transmitter for sale on there - and it's cheaper than the official BW site...

It says on their site that "Broadcasters Warehouse" used to be "Transmitters 'R' Us" which I vaguely remember from a few years back and was definitely a contemporary of the original Roger/Scott BW. Maybe they assumed BW wouldn't rise from the ashes and wanted to take advantage of a name change? I don't know. As for "Broadcast Warehouse" who's doing that now?

Roger's sister.

...Great news and best of luck to them. And as for their prices they are very reasonably priced for what you're getting and what they're SUPPOSED to be used for.

Sorry I must've been under a rock! I've read up on it now. Seconded, I wish them all the best.

I don’t know about the transmitters just repeating what albert said a while ago about some guy messing with the internals of bw stuff, none of these sell to someone who doesn’t have a licence, theres no point looking anyway. As far as I know theres no shop that sells decent quality transmitters is based uk, I don't think this solves any problem, if there was some were that sold them for £200 people would get them.

If the market will support their cost/profit model then yeah, go for it. It would be nice to see more equipment specifications on their website but their gear is definitely not aimed at the pirate market where you want no-frills gear that's easily replaced when it gets nicked. Even for the pirate market though it's not worth anyone's while building a decent quality rig with usable power and selling it for £200!

I know you do ;)

The salient point was "usable power" (I had something like 100W+ in mind) but I also want a certain amount of reliability and no planes falling.

I just did a top of my head cost to build a 100W box, and it's about £140 - I can't speak for others but if I was still building I'd want at least 100% markup so we're getting close to the magic £300.

So what spec is this £200 special (and would you put one on air)?

Your right it’s not worth it if someone is trying to make money from selling to gear, not when you account for all materials, time, box, filters, limiters, rds, encoders, but there are people with surplus, and people who don’t mark up at all and just enjoy seeing someone get on air. For 300 I’d expect you could get upto 270w but may have to forgo some bells n whistles, but those filters are still a must.

No bells and whistles on my rig. Exciter, PA, LPF, heatsink, fan, PSU, box, connectors etc. Maybe SWR board and some kind of supervisory board. No frills doesn't mean you can cut corners with the tech spec either.
I don't think I'd get much change out of £250 for a 300W rig. The chunkier things get, the price goes up for all sorts of reasons (as you well know!)
