Keith York wass an Englishman, with pirate experience already under his belt including an offshore pirate, before he came to Ireland. Like others, Keith was very influential in Irish pirates in the 1980s. He was an engineer as well as a deejay/presenter and was involved in setting up some of the pirates that he was with. His nickname was "Yorkie".
Here is a list of Irish pirates that I am aware of that he was involved with.
Dublin: Southside Radio, Dun Laoghaire; Island Radio, Dalkey
Cork: South Coast Radio, Cork City - Cork's first super pirate; WKLR, Bandon, Co. Cork
Galway: Atlantic Sound 1026, WLS, Coast 103, Quincentennial Radio - 1989
If you know of any other Irish pirates that Keith York was involved with, please add to the list.

Re: Keith York's Irish Pirates
Some interesting pics recently appeared on DX archive.

including Keith York with one of those RCA 'ET' MW transmitters in Galway (remember having a look at another one of those in storage in a shed several years ago, which had been used (in Ireland) in the 1980s near the high end of the band)

That yoke was used in southside radio on 999KHz back in the day, it had black louvered side panels on it then if that rings any bells. York also brought a low power FM and audio compression to southside, he nade a big step up for them.
