Addiction Fm 95.2
Saw people going on about it in a FB group, heard the name mentioned on and off down the years but not much only a few sets posted on Youtube. Seemed it was a happy hardcore station, some good tunes played and DJ's seemed enthusiastic and into it, sounded like a lot of fun on air. Anyone have any good memories of it?

Re: Addiction Fm 95.2
Was on from about 1998 to 2000 from East London, one of the only station's at that time stilll specialising in HH but also played a lot of Old Skool and DnB. They used to be a big part of the crew hosting at Club Labrynth from various venues.
....Some great memories helping them set up at Holly Street Dalson and Peregrine House Islington and it used to cover the whole of London with 100-120w into a single dipole.
The studio was in Stoke Newington and was later used by Ruud Awakening 104.3/2.
Origin came on 95.2 after them and before Addiction came on there was a station called Inferno on 95.2 ran by the same guy who owned the studio (flat in stokey).
The main guy who was running Addiction got involved with Eruption 104.0 shortly afterwards.

I remember Addiction. I was involved in the squat parties scene around London at the time and knew a couple of dj's on a DNB / jungle rig who were on it. Don't think it lasted long though. Think Origin came on NYE 1999 and they were gone.

The whole of London on a 100-120 watter! thats decent they must have had a high spot for the signal to travel. I didn't know they only lasted a short while thats probably why there isnt much online when you search. I have a few sets downloaded of Cris E Manic and some dnb sets too it sounded great. I have heard of Inferno just by people talking but again not heard any audio, what happened to the Addiction DJ's they still about or they doing the family thing now? they probably are.teckniqs wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 5:21 pm Was on from about 1998 to 2000 from East London, one of the only station's at that time stilll specialising in HH but also played a lot of Old Skool and DnB. Gathering from what was head further up the thread I think Addiction became Origin in the end? interesting to know all this though! I love these stories.

She also moved over to Eruption with her boyfriend Steve (DJ Uplift) after it went off. Yeah some of the other DJ's also moved on to various other stations, I moved out of London in Summer 2000 so I am not really sure what happened to the others.Sparki wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 11:47 am

....No I don't think Addiction had anything to do with Origin apart from initially coming from the same area and on the same frequency, but I can try and find out for you.

Yeah would love to know, do find it fascinating what came of what, who went where and what stations went on/came off etc.

I heard that a few stations used Labrynth once it closed as a studio. I remember it being squatted after and there were a few other squatted building along the same stretch being used for underground raves and punk gigs. Must admit really miss those days

Which venue was that at? ...The last time I went to one of those nights it was at the Pleasure rooms in Tottenham, around summer '99.

I used to lock into Inferno and Addiction. Anything playing hardcore when the dial was full of UKG stations was a bonus.

Ruud Awakening used 4 Dalston Lane from 2003 onwards, so close enough to Labrynth! Creepy old building, used to just go up there with a friend to chill and watch the DJ/MCs play, nice people - wicked station. But off topic, but great memories for meSparki wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:57 amIve heard similar stories but never been sure who used it as a studio once it closed.

Re: Addiction Fm 95.2
Just looked up Dalston Lane on Google maps hoping to see the creepy building. Looks totally different to how I remember it I remember there being a punk squat along that stretch putting on gigs and raves in a load of derelict shops. Think it was called Poison Club. Doesn't look anything like the Dalston I knew 15-20 odd years backDeadlyuk wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 9:06 pmRuud Awakening used 4 Dalston Lane from 2003 onwards, so close enough to Labrynth!
