Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
Ibc radio was 104.4
Carousel was 105.8 (later became 106) when it came back in the 90s (you only seem to list the 80s frequency)
LCT radio was so small is probably shouldnt be listed . It was my first ever station. List is also missing Hardcore FM
Paradise Cheshire is listed, but the Super Station is missing form the list.

Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
If you remember Lee, before it became the reincarnation of Carousel, the Premiere Radio stuff went out on 104.6
The then Pott Shrigley tx site (it was over 20 years ago, locations don't matter now) managed to stomp over anything from the city, although it was it a bit of a mess in Manchester from the Moss Side competition. I think that's why we moved. I've slept since. Of course then the beeb took 104.6 and that was that slot gone.
I've often wondered why, with counties wide coverage and no raids, people don't remember Carousel, and I think it's because most people casually tuning across just assumed it was an ILR station. I've had ex pirates tell me so. Can't decide if that's cos it was ace, or cos it was shit. I'll go with the former

No chance of me getting that, I get the station on 105,9 very strong. They need a better frequency, 106.4 ? maybe

Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
It's like that in Manchester too as 105.9 is running a good few kW from a good site in Liverpool and a strong signal across Manchester.LeeCavanagh wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 3:27 pmNo chance of me getting that, I get the station on 105,9 very strong. They need a better frequency, 106.4 ? maybe
.....Even just moving it to 105.7 would make the world of difference but it's like they want their coverage to be heavily restricted and chose that stupid frequency deliberately so it would just cover Moss Side and the immediate surroundings. When they used 99.7 they were Manchester-wide, now they barely even cover Moss Side.

I can see some logic in that , if they want to last a bit longer before getting picked up by the dti in Preston

Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
A blast from the past, Skyport Radio reappeared on Sunday from somewhere in the Cheshire area on 106.5MHz, not sure if that would get into Manchester, they had some reports from the Winsford area, 8pm to 11pm, they have been on and off line on Icecast over Christmas to celebrate 50 years since they first appeared on the 41m band in 1971. They said they were streaming from a studio in Cornwall, and may do a couple more weeks on FM and then return to streaming only. There's some info on the blog https://skyportradio.blogspot.com/ and website https://skyportradio.com

Didn't think you would, very bad choice of frequency for Manc with NMCR on 106.6 and 106.4 from the Peak District...RingwayManchester wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 10:11 pm Couldn’t hear it tonight over a station adjacent

Their probably using online apps with the listeners not been there on fm, theres nothing in Leeds,Bradford,Huddersfield that can detect, weird situation I always used to hear 5/6 on weekend, they all just vanished by 2020, I expect the same will happen over the rest of the country soon enough.Culture FM wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 7:49 pm Nothing last time I was there I checked full fm radio 87.5 to 108.0 fm and nothing.

Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
Nothing pirate-wise, unless one of the Merseyside irregular pirates is on and manages to get out there, but I doubt that personally.
2x community stations which are pretty decent, Legacy 90.1 and Unity 92.8 can have a bit of a pirate vibe to them at times in terms of their music output. Also got the Manchester small-scale DAB mux with quite a few stations if you can receive it, seems to be restricted to the city centre really.

Exactly why they shouldn’t of gone on YouTube bragging about running pirate stations.RingwayManchester wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 9:32 amBase FM was raided by Ofcom. Not heard anything since.

Re: Any pirates in Greater Manchester area?
Yeah as you predicted there was fuck all on when I was up there, had a scan around the dial in my friends car, just the usual crap commercial stations. Someone did say there used to be a station on in late 00s playing bounce, happy hardcore and that Wigan Pier sort of stuff, dunno name of said station though.g33ky wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:19 pmNothing pirate-wise, unless one of the Merseyside irregular pirates is on and manages to get out there, but I doubt that personally.
