James Stannage

Not pirate radio, I know, but my earliest memories of listening to the radio consisted of good old Luxy and James Stannage on Radio Piccadilly under the bedclothes, on an old red leather Perdio 7 transistor my grandad gave me (I still have it!).

If you've never heard Stannage in full flight... well, it was quite a thing to behold when you were 11 years old, illicitly listening to the radio when you were supposed to be getting a good night's sleep in readiness for another day of the mindless, stultifying boredom that was grammar school.

Here's a collection of his later outings from before he got fired by Piccadilly in 2004(?) or whatever it was called by then. The Hits used to re-play 'The Best of James Stannage' on DAB overnight, interspersed with really awful music, and this is where these are recorded from. Except that a friend of mine did the taping, and re-packaged James with music that was more acceptable to him. I certainly think it's an improvement; others may not

It's been years since I heard these myself, but I found the link on an old laptop that was getting binned a couple of weeks ago... enjoy (or not)!
