Dance fm (Sheffield) moved to 107.6 in 1996, I forgot this have a vague memory of it been on 107.6, it says it suffered a raid. https://www.thepiratearchive.net/misc-section/ its under free radio news sheets and pirate chat magazines, I had to search through it.
It also says fantasy fm started moving frequencies, started on 101.9, moved around up the band to 105.6. I remember hearing it on 105.7, thought it was just my radio, when I was trying to hear it over at west bretton, it must of been on there. The last frequency I heard it on was 105.9, low but nice sounding audio, then it was gone and Joy fm came on 105.8. I do also remember there been something funny with the stereo on pitch fm, wasn’t sure what it was, didn’t sound quite right, sounds good on the recording that you posted.
Theres stations listed I don’t even know about, don’t think the writters kean on fantasy or dance music, shame it wasn’t written by someone nearer by who was nearer to it all, you’d get more detail. Also says there was a fight between scr and a station diamond, both wanting to transmit on the same frequency I think scr moved down. I don’t think the diamond station is related to the station thats started up on doncaster dab called diamond groove seems to play lot of 80’s vapour wave.
I’ve read about them having a steel door at scr, it was in a blog some were. If anyone knows more about these stations lets us know, theres also info there about other stations like a station in York had a big signal.

Or8 @radionortheast. I've been thinking about the frequencies and years of stations earlier and it's a bit hazy now.. I'll try and pinpoint a few here.. Diamond radio started on 102 in 89 apparently just before scr in April which I've only just discovered meself tbh.Anyway Diamond lasted maybe a bit longer than a year and got busted at least once coz I've got a tape with them setting back up..They did come back as might 100.7 st in 1991 spring time the same day scr came back on in stereo too, after a raid. Mighty lasted a couple of years to my knowledge..
Scr started April 89 on 105..moved to 101.7 around august..Spent a few months early 1990 in mono on 101.7 then 101.5 mono till spring 91.. Summer 92 scr moved (classic FM and the birds) to 104.5 live on air.. Some days later turned up on 105.2 ,i think..Moved to 107.2 94 maybe then sometime in 98 or 99 they were gwarn!
Hardcore FM 101.9 mono came on maybe around September -october 91 , lasted a couple of months maybe..The recording of the first day of hardcore fm Sheffield makes me laugh ( hardcore fm,101.9 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, or until we get caught) .
Hardcore 101.1 or 101.3 came on around Christmas 91 and lasted, well not long really coz i think pitch fm came on late summer 92 and i think there was a connection there..
Pitch fm started out on 95.6 mono but soon got their act together with stereo and compression and yes the stereo was strange, pretty wide and the stereo pilot would flash on and off with the non existent 15khz filtering,or was it a image of another frequency which i think you "northeast" have mentioned before when pitch were on 106.5 but you or someone found it 10.7 mhz above..
Pitch went off 94 or 95,not sure..
Foulmouth, don't know much about them.
Fresh, don't know much about them neither.
There was a station called DBS "drum n bass station" on 106 around 93 ..They were meant to be on 106.5 though.lasted few weeks..
There's a few others that i haven't got names for and just popped up from time to time..Summat playing acid house mixes with the cure playing at the end on 102.5 early 90's...

The place I could pick pitch fm on my pocket radio/walkman they always had digital tunning, under the light in the bathroom, I could get stereo signal on it quite something, remember something strange about the stereo, it was problalby too wide.

Before on my hifi that wasn’t that good, with long wire draped around my parents bedroom I had no room of my own, for months I heard something weak on 106.5 couldn’t id it playing rave, I found it was pitch. Don’t know if was the later Phillips hifi, hearing constant break through from pilots on 106.5, i’m guessing the pilots were 10.7mhz above the frequency..as I don’t think they ever used to the upper part of the fm band for communications. Suppose there was a grey area frequencies above 105, not been cleared, I though it might be the link didn’t know much at the time assumed afterwards it was something 10.7 above the frequency in the airband.
105-108 became really full with pirates, typically I could hear 105fm, fantasy 105.6 or 9 pitch 106.5, foul mouth 106.8, scr 107.2, fresh 107.8, freedom 107.95. Remember it been on the local news, about pirates in sheffield, they probalby wanted them to pack it in,problalby mentioned aircraft too.

I found a recording of fantasy on soundcloud I was listening to dj dream said they were in mono for now, a shocker, I listened to hardcore fm on youtube, not one I heard sounded simliar to fantasy, don’t think theres recordings out there of foul mouth fm, I guess everyone was busy recording other stuff. They were always in mono, the signal was always good loud and clear, they did mention a town not that far away, they were helped by it been on mono. I just remember a pre fab sprout song, some gabba, a rude phone in don’t remember much else.

Yeah the upper band was rammed with pirate activity back then and it wonderful.. What local news was it on about pirates? I think I've heard that recording of hardcore fm..It sounds like a mix up of different dj's and in stereo which the original hardcore fm wasn't! That soundcloud recording was probably recorded after the aug -sept raid which removed a stereo tx which I'm sure they had 2 of because when they moved tx's and set back up the frequency would settle.5 above 101.9 and.5 below with another one..101.9 tx was retuned to 104.9 then eventually 105.4 and then off a week or two after..There was what seemed a long time before fantasy came back on maybe 4 weeks then they were back in mono with no processing playing old rave time shows with eazy d and rush! :tup
