I’m under whelmed by this, I have a lot of old programming, my own recordings, every song on mp3, I search for new music, I don’t see how it could offer anything new.

It's nice to be able to listen to them while driving around with far better reception/quality than back in the FM days.

They're still officially on test transmission. Last night they were running an ad for an event which had already taken place so some wrinkles yet to be ironed out.

Better than the fm days, sorry but I have to disagree, you can’t beat the sound of the old fm days, not including pirates in that statement

I don't know if you're doing this just to annoy me, LJ would of never got ads if it wasn't a good signal in Belfast, fm signal that went all the way across the irish sea to the lake district further under tropo, was often audio-able here 400kms away, I think your talking rubish, seems to me that you have some problem picking up fm signals with whatever equipment you’ve got. Its good that energy have started back up, it doesn’t involve LJ, or miles or any engineering other than a standard box of equipment. A dab signal unlikely to make it over ni land, propagate over the irish sea compared to the fm signal, as long as you can a good dab signal I don’t suppose it matters.

The signal in Belfast was never particularly strong. A decent car radio would pull it in in most places but indoor reception on a portable was very area dependent.

It was audible across a good chunk of NI (I heard them in Omagh once) but signal strength was no match for the local BBC/ILR stations (to be fair it would have been difficult given the distance).

Ive heard it claimed that it's predecessor (Kiss 103.7) had a stronger signal than Downtown in many areas of Belfast. If this was indeed the case I suspect Kiss had a tighter beam width than Energy (coupled with the fact that ILR stations of the 1980's tended to use less power than is the case today) it should also be remembered that parts of West and North Belfast are fairly hilly and less than ideal for FM coverage.
