No worries at all. I hear you - and we understand the challenges in filming with pirate radio. The documentaries that have been produced in the past have all not identified the exact locations where the broadcast takes place. It's relatively early days in terms of the idea, but right now we plan to focus on the people who are really passionate about continuing to work on FM (as opposed to exclusively online). After all the recent OfCom crackdowns we want to look at the history of pirate radio and why it is still relevant for young people today.

S Dance done a similar thing years ago and what do you think happened a week or so later.

Sure Flex done something similar last year, and that didn't benefit ANYONE in the game! not even themselves

Wouldn't even entertain it!!

What ever information you decide to share with them, will be twisted, cut and made to sound the worst way possible.

REMEMBER BBC OWN OFCOM!!!

It's totally pointless...

Time and time again these stations are playing puppets for the TV programme makers and it all only gets edited to show it the way they like to show it. On all these documentaries etc they're all using the same old propaganda bull shit and using us as their mugs to do it!

.....Stay well clear. There's no point unless you just make your own documentary for YouTube! That's the only way to get the true message out without them adding their bull shit and bod's from Ofcom, Heart FM etc!

Oh and let's not forget what happened with ITV to that idiot with the Drum and Bass station in Leeds, TWICE!

I would say do not get involved.. the BBC should be spoken to about encouraging an illegal act or or does that get forgotten about when they grass the pirate up..bbc just tell lies and use propaganda to turn us on each other... Two words, JIMMY SAVILLE. The corporation covered up for this perv and the other ones too..Don't talk to any media outlets coz they will make everything anyone says sound interesting by making shit up..trust!

Does anyone remember the London programme about LWR in 1988 how they tried to say they were behind everything bad about pirate radio after they were promised to do a fair look into the pirate radio of 1980s London?

Unfortunately most of the positive elements to pirate radio will always be rushed swiftly through in mainstream media reportage anyway. That's just how it works. Nobody wants to take the time to do any proper research anymore. The "journos" will do nothing but brush over the vast ocean of sensitive detail in order to summarise and address the most key, exciting and hype elements, again and again and again, in order to satisfy and maintain the attention of such a large audience. It's boring, pointless and repetitive. Another documentary showing the same one-sided comparisons we've all heard before between OFCOM and radio pirates does nothing but continue to enhance stereotypes while barely educating anybody about anything actually relevant. It's a shame that there's always a never ending source of egotistical bellends who are happy to go and thoughtlessly willy wave on camera to see this formula through to its depressing completion time and time again, and this is in many walks of life.

From an alternative perspective, if you're confident, rehearsed and well media trained and have a load of interesting, insightful shit you really *want* to say publicly to the whole world about this scene you truly care about, why not make that happen? The only reason nearly every documentary and piece made about pirate radio have sucked so fucking badly is because nobody actually actively went out and cared to intelligently explain the really, really great and beneficial aspects to its existence. This is possible, could possibly even be fruitful, and will not necessarily be a bad thing if you can hold your own on camera!

I just finished watching a new documentary that just emerged on Vice called 'Locked Off' about the UK squat party scene which is, on the whole, gloomily more of the same overly hyped up and under-researched journalism which fails to venture out much further than what we already know. However, there's a guest appearance from our friends at Scumtek who used the media platform as a real opportunity to get their message across loud and clear to a great audience. This I found quite inspiring.

Just some late night, half drunken, food for thought. The mainstream media CAN be harnessed if you want to prove a point and know how to play the game. I would respect anyone who tried to go about this the right way and with the right intentions.

infinityisnow is right on the money. Highly unlikely the production company is going to care about making an unbiased documentary. Just another screen credit for some university student to add to his IMDB profile probably, and help him climb the ranks.

I personally feel that there is a need for a quality pirate radio documentary, something akin to Scratch (a hip hop documentary) - but it will never get made as there is no money in it.
