Lol! reading through all this at the start and thinking... bait!, Flex come on to say yeah yeah keep up the hate *wobbles head* and then all of a sudden their audio is off lol. I don't really see what the point of the report was? seems to me someone at Flex knows someone at the BBC and wanted some TV time. Maybe I am of a different opinion to some but if your doing pirate radio surely you'll get hit if you go on TV, sounds like Flex have at this moment as their stations isn't on. For them to be on 24 years (so they say) you'd think they would know the way things work. Ok yes Kool and Dream FM Leeds oh and Radio Freq (also Leeds) appeared and look what happened to Dream and RF... Kool are the only ones still running because they are smart.

I'm not having a go but I just had to laugh at the smarmy lil blokes on the report all smiley then at the end of this post seeing they have gone off.

I never did understand the 24 years. Does that include the couple of years they were off and the year or so bossman boyed them off and took it over and turned it into RAW FLEX ?

Hi all hope all is well. I used to know the guy who started flex fm in summer 1992 and his name was Dave Easy D, he sold it off becoz he had enough of all the running around etc in 1998.

You can just image what went on in the corridoors of power, a pervy nonce civil servant sat at home watching news night because his source to young boys as dried up gets a call from one of his pervy MP mates telling him they want a crack down on pirate radio he's just watched a story about it on that tv thingy.

The next morning the ofcom bods get orders go and do your job, the shit carries on falling down the chain of command until the mokeys/lackeys on the ground have to raid as many stations as possible to show those fucking plebs who really runs this country.

Flex was off for the best part of 10 years and within this time there were spates of RAW FLEX from totally different management and ends! So don't think you're entitled to say that you've been going 23/24 years to be honest.
Not hating, just stating a fact. Same as Flight FM.

It's probably even more calculated than that, not just a reaction to the Newsnight report but an order that's been there for a long long time. I think that the government is hoping that if the pirates can be persuaded to just stay out of sight of the general public then they may just lose listeners to the point of packing it in. If they can save money by just letting pirates die out and not raiding any that aren't causing a problem, then you bet they will. Any attempt to publicise pirates outside of the usual fanbase and portray them in a mostly positive light is a threat to the plan to just let pirate radio die out, thus if any station steps out of line (Flex, Frequency, whoever) then the whole scene is punished.

In a way, what Flex did was and is just the kind of publicity that FM pirates don't need to survive. And that's why it was obvious what Ofcom's reaction would be and why Flex should've known better. I expect the BBC themselves will be getting a smacked arse over this as it's basic advertising for pirates as far as Ofcom will be concerned.

wrong. they would put that up coz they know It could start issues between stations then sit back and watch stations taking each other off saving them a job!!
