Cool FM! :tup
Kenny sharp aka Mr B from mighty fm and diamond radio..
Almost as good as having it back, something I could sit by my radio listening to, some of the music is simliar to club energy it must been what people liked in clubs.
Nice stereo sound, seems like they have problems with the phono at the end, loose connection cuts out/loose wires, martine l is there for an advert for reflex records, I remember hearing an advert on it, had the music from the old spice advert but I don’t know what it was for, it might of been a promo.
When the transmission cuts out is that home fm on 107.9 i’m hearing whatever it was, I had problems with a station on 107.9 home or pennine fm, I often had to tune to 107.65 to hear the big fm. 107.7 was a nice frequency, had 7's in it, I think when cool started I could tune to 107.7 and hear it, I wish these frequencies were clear now, they were very nice ones.

Yes the stereo was nice.they seemed to be the professional outfit of pirates in Sheffield.. Always sounded professional to me but i didn't listen that much tbh. The tx was about 5 mins walk from my block which always helps with the reception, even though it had to travel through concrete to get to my aerial...The dance fm run by the same people had a very wide stereo, sort of weird preset you'd get on a 90's hifi, awful. So awful that the recording i did of it was mono coz i switched the stereo off!

Ah yes..It was pennine 107.9 i think...I did try getting out of town pirates once or twice up here at Norfolk park back then but never heard anything! Maybe they were on the same frequency as Sheffield stations at the time..

Peoples fm was on the same frequency for a time as fantasy, remember a signal on 105.6 sounding quite nice for abit, playing some chill out music, hearing it on some of the surrounding hills, to north west of Leeds, low power sounded nice, don't know if it was peoples though.

Fresh fm from sheffield it had no problem over riding dream on 107.8, so you wouldn’t of heard dream in sheffield, dream didn’t last longer than 1995, I don’t think there were any strong signals coming out of Leeds for afew years atferwards. Peoples was always lower, few other asian stations, lower power than dream on 107.8, I could only pick up the other stations weakly in backround. Think they probalby put all their eggs in one basket with dream, no other stations could come about there. There were quite afew stations didn’t seem to have dj’s, until you got to move, test, frequency, didn’t listen to them much not my cup of tea.

I could pick huddersfield better than Leeds were I lived, there was underground fm 106, and unity fm 108, not sure if they came on evenings or weekends, don’t remember much about them, what year unity started. remember hearing underground switch on when we were near emley late afternoon, pretty sure it was around in 1994, think I heard it at home then too, fantasy switched to 105.9 it wouldn’t of been receiveable. Seemed to be more stations come out over there near y2k, love 100, cool/jive 102 and unity, I moved to the top of hill later in 1996 which helped all round with reception. Some powerful signals came out of bradford 106.7/8 late 90’s, Power and Rebel fm, they would of got all the way to sheffield for sure, Power would switch on at weekends, don’t know about rebel, power stopped me tuning to 106.6 to try and hear energy.

the philips hifi i had in the mid 90's, had stereo blend so I wouldn’t known if there was something wrong with the stereo on dance fm. To get stereo I had to connect wire between the signal and ground, it was connected up to long wire or to the dipole in the loft, it did get decent reception. It survived the move, one day I put it on heard buzzing, the caps had gone bad on it. After I moved peoples did come in well in my bedroom on the outdoor aerial I could hear radio derby which was interesting.
