Sorry I was convinced you were linked to Base FM. I've been listening to the stream, sounds good, but like they're only just setting up again.Guyofthenorth wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 11:48 pmI don't know if base FM are on FM currently not sure if there intention is to come back on

There has been a pirate audible on 100.8 for the last 2 nights (Fri & Sat), couldn't compare with the stream as hadn't read your post but it was playing hardcore which isn't quite Base FM's usual genre. Didn't listen long enough to hear any links or idents as was driving both times, but very weak in South Manchester apart from isolated pockets. Could be low power or further away. I know 3 or 4 people who could put something on 100.8 at relatively short notice but again, none of them would play hardcore, so we might have something new.

Yeah i’ve tuned to 100.8 here sometimes hoping to hear something, there is some break through from heart, nothing heard though, also tuned to 87.5 and 87.9 hoping to hear something too, I keep meaning to look at shortwave, the frequencies on there often seem to change, better if their kept down on 6000khz its hard to get to 7000khz

I'll be making the same journeys tonight as I was last Friday so will listen out again. Some pirates do the "first/last weekend of the month" thing though so... we'll see. Will try tomorrow too. I doubt you'll hear BASE FM on shortwave any time soon however!radionortheast wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:14 amYeah i’ve tuned to 100.8 here sometimes hoping to hear something, there is some break through from heart, nothing heard though, also tuned to 87.5 and 87.9 hoping to hear something too, I keep meaning to look at shortwave, the frequencies on there often seem to change, better if their kept down on 6000khz its hard to get to 7000khz

i’m getting something here on 87.9, sounds like a pirate maybe wkend transmitter talking in London accent, weak, theres also a fairly big lift today conditions have gone back to what there were the other morning, many of the dutch transmitters coming through, its faded back into the noise now.

yeah I usually get heart here on 88, it depends were the aerial is, I used to get it better were I used to live, sometimes I check between it and 106.2, as I sometimes hear a dutch station on that frequency too.

Has wkend thought about putting something on in Sheffield? Plenty of big or massive hills around here... I'm not too bothered tbh, like me jungle and oldskool but i bet there's plenty who'd listen to it!

Re: WK-END Manny
Maybe they could use 90.4 in Sheffield, unless sutton colefield is strong there, most of the time the frequency is really clear apart from vrt from beglium, it only comes in clear during tropo. I think some ramadan stations might come on 87.7 there, it could be abit risky for them to use the same frequency. I think they’d have to careful of the wind, it does blow all the time in these parts suspect it would blow down there all the time

Re: WK-END Manny
Yeah 90.4 is pretty clear with radio 2 on 90.2 from somewhere! I'd stick it on 105.9, or 94.0 ,mind you if i was Putting something on id make sure I'd got plenty of back up boxes and try different frequencies and maybe upsetting some big knobs on the dial! Would love to put something over the top of hits, formally hallam on 97.4 on Christmas day, that would be satisfying....In Sheffield city centre the FM dial is pretty clear because you can't pick up other out of town stations like Aire (ghr) or 96.9 or 106.It'd be easier just to say you just get what you should be recieving in the city centre. It's on the surrounding estates on the hills that pick up everything else! Low powered tx in town (city centre) wouldn't cause any problems for any out of town broadcasters i would imagine! Put a tx on Norton tower blocks or Norton water tower would get you out over an extremely large area, very large area indeed... I've looked at those places on Google maps and back in 2008 there was a folded dipole set up on the water tower in a hurried fashion by the looks of the pics (Could this have been the aerial of bounce 88 or millennium 87.8 or 88)? There was some dipoles on the tower blocks at Norton back in 2008 too! One of them could very well have been millennium fm but could also have been the source of the mystery fm station that popped up from time to time on various frequencies since the early 90's and 2010!

Re: WK-END Manny
Britannia used to use 99.9, they did switch to 97.8 don’t know why, with penistone it couldn’t be used now, 99.9 could be good for relaying some christmas music, nation is lower power on 99.8, compared to capital on 105.8, there is nothing on 94 it is a quiet frequency, 0.3 away from radio 4. Wonder what happened to all stuff brittannia had after he passed, sounds like he had it all made, the stereo was really good on it, get that difference between stereo mono I like, they’d want some dissposible stuff thought. 108 low power city center next to heart, a gp out the office window,
getting some nice ethic vibes, maybe bounce fm mini, something could go on 88.1, drum and bass/jungle, 0.5 away from radio sheffield. I was thinking the 94 is close to sheffield live, I suppose they don’t care much, I don’t think their trying to commercial, don’t know what could go on there, maybe some kpop, I think we’ve had it all.
I’ll problalby be having a look for that water tower, I think i’ve already seen pictures of it in the snow.
