"Dublin's Pirate Days" on Dublin Community Television
I have been recently looking at a series on Dublin Community Television about the past pirate radio scene in Dublin presented by Eddie Bohan. It was made in 2013 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Wireless Telegraphy Act that took affect from midnight December 31st 1988, which resulted in a majority of pirate radio stations at the time closing down. "Dublin's Pirate Days" has been repeated on that tv station, which I can pick up from the Virgin digital package, and I only caught up with it lately. There are six episodes to the series and it looks like some or all are being repeated for a while. The centrepiece of each episode, following some history of the development of Dublin pirates, is the interviews conducted by Eddie of people with vast pirate experience. Interviewees included (with apologies if I forgot someone): Declan Meehan, Tracey Evans (Radio Dublin and Heartbeat FM), Valerie Cox (Radio Dublin), Mike Purcell (Dublin South Community Radio), Andy Preston, Aidan Cooney, Garvin Rigby, Paul Shepherd and Walter Hegarty. I included pirates in brackets for those who may not be as well known to the general listening public. In case you are wondering, the last three are among the founders of Christmas FM.

Should have been titled:
"Dublin's Pirate Days" on Dublin Community Television. Could it be amended please? I can't see an option to Edit - maybe I was too late. I think that's it as I just edited this post.

Title edited. When you click to edit your opening post you should be able to edit the title as well.

Thanks for that. As far as I could see, the Edit option was gone when I was trying to change it. As I said in the second post, I was able to edit that one! It was important to change that word in the title as it was a key part of the thread!dancemusicdj wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:25 am Title edited. No problem. I completely forgot general posters can't edit posts after a certain time.

I was reminded elsewhere that Martin Block was another interviewee. I had a feeling I had forgotten someone. It was also mentioned that this series is on Youtube.

Hopefully this gets put on YouTube for the benefit of folk outside Dublin and/or not on cable.
