Possible dutch pirate on 94.6 (heard friday)

Post by radionortheast » Tue Nov 19, 2024 1:34 pm

Turned my radio on about half past 5 on friday evening, was suprized to be getting polka music on 94.6, it kept fading up, weak but there, i’ve always wanted to hear one on fm so i’m hoping it is, a dutch pirate, read some were a while ago there was meant to be one on this frequency. I was barely hearing any of the dutch stations at the time, Heart fm was abit stronger than Nos 2 on 88.0, god knows what they maybe running, its definately not radio stoke, I do get a stroke fade over the top of it now again.

I thought i’d let anyone know as they might live closer, if the frequency is clear, image this must of been clear all the way down the eastern coast, to get this far north…the polka stopped about 10 past 6 and they put an Abba song on

I saw a pirate documentary a little while back on Youtube. These guys from Holland had a 12kW pro rig in a shed and next door was some kind of pub. They were all drinking beer and had the dj playing tunes whilst they celebrated the 12kW broadcast

I'm pretty certain it was on 94.6fm so maybe it was them :D

Anyone got a link for it? It was all in Dutch and have no idea how I'd find it again lol :tup

That would be good i’d like to see it, the video I saw I think was years ago now someone who lived high up a hill think over the other side of the pennines, that station was on 108 called Woudster, was coming through in stereo too! obviously a tropo lift on at the time, I was totally in ore of this, its all i've wanted to hear since!. 8-) such high power too, think the transitional music they play is ignored by licensed stations too makes them unique

Ive seen the documentary (only understood bits of it) but cant remember where. I think the licenced station "100%NL" were pretty unhappy. The FM band in most parts of the Netherlands is pretty jam packed these days (little room for pirates) but there are some rural areas in the East and North of the country where it's still possible. There's supposedly a couple of pirates in Amsterdam although from what I can gather they mostly operate online nowadays and only dust off their FM rigs on special occasions (possibly bank holidays when the RCD or whatever theyre called these days are thought to be off duty)

I could hear all the Holland stations on friday, no sign of it, its been flat for a few weeks, vtr (belgium) has gone back to been weak since yesterday!, would be nice to have something of this nature on regular, seems likely one off, with mw think they switch on an evening. I do wonder how they’d build an audience for something that is there for a few hours. :? I suppose they could be using directional aerials to cover as much of the region as possible, they would probably end up with the signal going out across the sea, under the right conditions receivable at the same level as licensed stations form the area or even better. :o  it should be there 24/7 thats how I like it done 8-)
