Not on 87.5, the UK FM band starts at 87.7 so you won't fine one of those any lower. :tup

There are several Ramadan pirates - after all, the law doesn't seem to apply there!

There used to be one in Bradford most years, and we used to make sure that there were a few hundred Watts of white noise over the top of them!

The 'Ramadam pirates' you're refering to are temporary licenced RSL stations and cannot go below 87.7FM.

The station in Bradford wasn't called Asian Air was it?

Nope - there were several Ranadam pirates on 87.5 and 87.6. We were well aware of the 87.7 RSLs - Stephen and I provided lots of RSL gear!

Many of the RSL Ramadan efforts on 87.7 suffered serious amounts of interference from the 87.5 pirates! An Asian friend told me that the pirates were from the more extreme end of things, and the RSLs were moderates....

We made representation to OFCOM about this "minority" religious broadcasting, but the "woke" nutters at OFCOM were all in favour of them! It's quite worrying that there's often official support for this kind of thing....

Something different last night and this morning (Surrey) on this band, this time playing hardstyle/electronic dance music.

Slightly puzzled by this comment on a pirate radio board! How does the law apply differently from one pirate station to the next?

That white noise comment is rather amusing

OFCOM seem scared to do anything about the religious pirates. That's how the law differs from other pirates. There's one law for the lads up tower blocks playing their flavour of dance music, and a completely different law for the operators of those things wailing away at the bottom of the band!

You have actual evidence for that or is it just speculation on your part?

There are no Asian pirates around here - only one in the past decade that I can remember and it got hit by Ofcom like the others. There are some black music stations left and they are taken off as regularly as those playing dance music.

The actual evidence is the wailing racket on 87.5 for weeks on end in many northern cities. It's difficult to believe that they would have such a big supply of gear that they were able to be on despite raids. OFCOM have been warned off, apparently.
