I helped them sort their rig (120w).
They just had it running 24/7 from a top floor flat about a mile or so from the City Centre with the aerial above the roof clamped to the balcony.
PC stream plugged into it.

....Ofcom took them off about 7 months later.

They should start it up again because the only pirate left in Manchester is Irie 105.8!

Unity was a pirate in Manc, now a legal community station, decent station. Theres also Legacy on 90.3? which appeals to the Afro-carribbean community so thats probably why theres no pirates there, not much need.
FM for lyfe!

I remember hearing unity on 106.0 back in 2004 when it was a pirate. Rumour had it they had the rig on top of Sankey Soaps.

....Legacy (formerly Peace Fm) is actually on 90.2, just before that came on there was a pirate called MoreVibes Radio on 90.1 fm.

Sorry my mistake, I got that the wrong way around.

....MoreVibes Radio was 90.2, and yes Peace/Legacy FM is indeed 90.1 coming from Old Trafford/Hulme area with a slanted folded dipole 'double stack '@25w ERP.

And I am also well-aware of what frequency Unity are on since they became licenced, one of my good pals plays on there
But they were a PIRATE in 2004 and back then they were on 106.0 MHz (but that's probably going back a bit before your time?) :tup

106 was also previously used by Carousel Radio, but that was even further back, in the early to mid 90s
I remember pirates from way-back-when included. Stomp FM, SoulNation, Lazer (I remember meeting Sam Brown back then too), Pro100, New Horizon, and Love NRG wasn’t the only NRG too, there was also Energy Radio, and a separate one called NRG, IBC Radio (whilst technically not in Manchester it did get out pretty well in Manchester (and I remember the initiation was to hand out flyers at the spinning disc center and eastern bloc records), does anyone have any of those flyers? From about 1987 onwards. IBC Southside also popped up in south Manchester (early 90s) as was a spin-off whilst IBC Northside was getting some unwanted heat, there was also SCR in (early 90s), Paradise Cheshire (late 80s/early 90s), The Super Station (early to mid 90s), KFM of course in Stockport in the 80s before coming back on FM when it won the license now owned by Imagine, ironically when KFM started test transmissions there was another pirate on their frequency called Hardcore FM (who received a 5 year broadcasting ban when being raided Xmas 1989) , there was Sunshine 101 (late 80s, early 90s) later getting a license as Manchester Irish Radio (or something like that). Power FM (mid 90s),

Who have i missed?
