See what you done there, nice little plug ;) - what you using?

Wonder how many others are dusting off equipment and broadcasting during this 3 week lockdown!

It claims to be 200 mW when set to the highest power output setting. If it's clean enough, you could drive a 1947 to about 3 Watts with that!
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

Just plugging it in to charge it up causes interference, let alone turning it on.

That's probably just because the charger is cheap and nasty, some cheap laptop chargers from China do the same thing and put out about 10 to 20dB of noise right across the whole FM band.

Yeah, it was a tongue in cheek kind of comment. Should've used emoji's :D

There's somebody using a really nasty charger next door which blasts shit everywhere too. I see it as lots of 'humps' in the SDR display, which move about everywhere in a very unstable manner. I think they leave it plugged in but not charging a lot because I always have at least some pulsing 'humps' at the top of the band:

Anyway, having bought one of these out of curiosity, I'm not convinced they are good enough to amplify. Of course, I'm barely a beginner, not an expert, but the quality of the audio alone is a bit off putting.

Nothing down here Margate way (never bloody is!) used to pick up Funkier Sex (Funky SX) which obv isnt pirate no more but is close in the presenting style.

If I get a minute later I might have a scan.

Was Funky SX ever a pirate? Googling doesn't show much if any evidence.

Looks like they still think they are - as they are also using "scrolling" RDS today...

Good point! I think they were due to how they present their current shows, if they were a community station or whatever you want to call them, they'd play tunes then speak after each one ends but they do the usual "shout to..." over the top of the music playing. Maybe they have just adopted the pirate ways and are legal before they got a license? I think they surely must have been pirate at one stage? wasnt there some stations here and there named 'Funky' something or other *shrugs*.
