Slip of the finger - 6255 kHz which is frequently jammed by a huge fax signal coming out of eastern Europe, which was the reason for the other frequency! I believe that they also tried the American favourite of 6950 kHz.
The groundwave does make it, but it's weak by there. It's huge on the first skip, though, and pretty good on the second. The groundwave seems to go better westward (can't see why). It gets into eastern England on groundwave.
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

MV Ross Revenge was broadcasting programs on shortwave on a frequency of 6,215 kHz. This frequency however at that time was internationally registered as a marine emergency frequency.
