Maybe im just dreaming but should there really be a dnb station in the republic of Ireland? I mean underground music is progressing in popularity if slowly. The idea should maybe be considered, or even better for someone to launch a an fm transmission of Kool 946 over here? :D maybe I'm just dreaming.

actually that is a good idea. while d&b does get a bit of air play, something dedicated might be worth a try

By a station I mean an fm station. For those over in the UK just for a bit of background, the closest you'll ever find to drum & bass on Irelan'ds FM dial would be a pop station playing a track by sigma once in a while. I'm surprised no1's tried to do it before, the authorities do nothing to stop Irish pirates.

so am i, but i suppose nobody interested in operating a station thinks there is a market for d&b. maybe that will change, after all i never thought we would have a dedicated reggae station and yet we have.

while thankfully there haven't been any raids for the past couple of years (touch wood that will continue) the authorities have been rather active in the past between 2003 and at least 2012/13. admittidly they became less active as those 10 years went on but sometimes when it was thought they weren't active they surprised us. so unfortunately you can never second guess them.

I've been involved in a station in Ireland for 5 years this Xmas.. It's going strong, never had a knock or even a message sent in from comreg..
The safety in the workplace act of 2007 prevents comreg from climbing above 12foot indoors without harnesses and having their insurance sign off on it.. Our transmitter is 20feet off the ground buried in a wall..
Then the roof is asbestos.. Insurance won't let them near it..

Local stations have complained, they gave details of the building, but my landlord is their engineer and always gives me the heads up what's happening there thankfully.
If your interested in doing something, drop me a pm and we have a chat.

true like I said I noticed tonik and klub and there's some fusion thing in county laois. the only thing irish pirates have in common with London is that they've followed up with the underground dance thing on the rare occasion that one slips up. They had hazard up a few years ago, don't no if that had anything to do with the london1

NLR 87.6fm in Dublin at least have some sort of drum & bass featured. In dance you've also got Klub (cork) and Tonik 107.1j (Dublin)

final questions: is energy941 still in Dublin? and will BMW/ford cars still play stations without rds on a scan or do they need to be tuned in manually?
