I recall sending an email to the operator of Jolly Roger many years ago asking if he would return to the air and the response I got was that the roof of the shed that housed the TX collapsed totally destroying it.

Must dig that email out.

EDIT....

Actually the email reads,

My SW rig is out of action.
The radio shed collapsed and the whole thing got wet and rusty.
Might try and get back on air before Xmas,
Joe

That is from Wed, 1 Jul 2009

Harmony 5780 kHz
Discussions on other boards mention that it is no longer based in Ireland.

We provided a 2.5kW (carrier) box for 5780kHz to a guy in northern Germany. 10kW peak into a good aerial really travels! I was to be used for a "relay" service - the owner was going to sell airtime to stations that wanted to get a good signal into central Europe. Last I heard, he'd got the aerials up and had run some tests. I don't know what services will run from that rig.....

Are Comreg active again in the Republic?

Comreg would be active here and there. They do seem to leave the AM and SW pirates alone however, last known action against such a station was i think, premier radio international back at the end of the 2000s. They can pop up up at any time though.

That's quite a big box Albert, very nice! Wonder if it's the one operating on 5780kHz?
Big signal all over the place and it's operating out of Spain, can be heard pretty solid on this SDR http://sdr.ureelx.com:7500/?f=5780.00amz7 from evening until early morning. During the day another SDR comes to life when 5780 switches off the PA, leaving the oscillator/exciter signal visible on this one http://ei2hh.proxy.kiwisdr.com:8073/?f=5780amnz7

As for Comreg, they basically will be out doing the nasty deed when a complaint is lodged against a station, no matter if it's MW, SW, FM, or DAB.
Looking at an old log from Sunday, January 11 2009 by Iann Cwiklinski in France mentions the Premier International raid, see it here http://www.easyshopdiscountzone.com/rad ... ive01.html and scroll to the date.

I've been in touch with the 5780kHz chap, and he says that the box is in "South-Western Europe", so it might be the one you're hearing. He's German, and (mostly) lives in Dusseldorf. He wasn't very forthcoming about the use the rig's going to be put to ... it'll be interesting to listen out for it.

It was described elsewhere as being a warning visit rather than a raid ? big difference!
