Do stations in Dublin carry much in the way of live programming these days ? Anytime I've tried listening it seems to be all automated which is a bit of a shame.
The regulator sends letters to high-site land owners scaring them off and its unfortunately effective.
Do they just send them to all landowners in a particular area or just ones known to be hosting pirates ?

It's really only the oldies pirates that carry live programming, retro 92 energy 1395 and 94.3 if it is relaying charity radio or links up with retro and energy. Ice radio when it was on 102.5 had limited live programming.
I would imagine just those known to be hosting pirates who will get letters, probably those who have hosted in the past as well but i don't know that.
It is the heavy fines that will put some off rather then the scare mongering likely contained within the letters, the fines are quite high i believe.

Is the Dublin kiss the same one as the Cork kiss. Its seems to be listed as 2 different stations as in spelling but both have the cork's website and stream listed.

Same station, just being relayed in dublin for the weekend as it's their launch. Beat in tralee are also relaying them.

They have. 1440 is a clearer frequency apparently hence the move.

1440 has "Radio 208" from Denmark (audible on the Twente SDR), claiming 500W. I (inadvertently) used it for a test of a 500W (carrier) rig since I could get my aerial resonant there, and got a rude call from the Danes! It became a prime Northern European frequency in 2015 when Luxembourg switched off their huge rig.

Have Radio North (846khz) called it a day? Been off last few times I've tried, and the stream is down on the website.

Not that i am aware. The stream seems to rarely work as far as i can gather but am open to correction.

It's booming in here as it's a short distance from me over the Foyle as the crow flies.

I could hear them on my car radio in Keel, Achill Island last Wednesday, but it was pretty weak.

That's a fair distance roughly 188miles from their base.

I'm measuring 140 miles approx distance. Part of the path is over seawater (which helps) then land again. Also being received right beside the sea, which boosts reception, even on distant MW signal coming across land.

I'd imagine Achill Island would be a great place for transatlantic AM DX early on winter mornings (wrong time of year now).

On the few occasions I've been in Achill, I've heard some amazing DX. An Irish friend and I managed a 2m contact to Nova Scotia (with a tropospheric duct) which lasted for about 25 minutes, back in summer 2017. If you're in the right places, it's quite electrically quiet there, so DX reception is often possible.

According to COMREG's latest propaganda report (Page 32 onwards) they've hit stations in Dublin (Hot and FreeDAB) Cork (Power FM) Dundalk (Sovereign) and "the South East" (SW) over the last year or so.

Was down in Dublin (East Wall area) on Sunday night and heard what I assume was Energy on 1440 with continuous music (mostly 80's oldies) a cursory scan of FM brought in XMAS on 88.1 and 105.2 (Not sure if this is a pirate or a temp licence) Didn't hear FreeDAB although I picked up their "North" Multiplex on the way down.

Xmas is a temp license. Comes on every year to raise money for charity. Broadcasts around a large part of the country for about a month.
