Select Radio is now testing on 94.4 from Countisbury House, ahead of a a full FM launch. Lovely strong stereo signal here in Bermondsey SE1.

94.4 used to be "Voice of Africa" from Tower Hamlets. That didn't last long because they couldn't pay their licence fees and PRS. They were run by volunteers, and were not allowed to make money under the stupid "Community" licence rules.

OFCOM don't want community stations to survive.

The Select Radio transmitter details have been released by Ofcom:

Site: Dulwich - Countisbury House
Frequency: 94.4
Site height: 106 metres
Aerial height: 30 meters
In-Use ERP (H): 12 watts
In-Use ERP (V): 50 watts
Licenced ERP (H): 50 watts
Licenced ERP (V): 50 watts

I live 4.7 miles due north of the site, as the crow flies, and it's a really strong signal here. It's amazing what can be achieved with 50 watts, when properly engineered.

VOA's first licenced frequency was 94.3, from 2007 to 2011. They switched to 94.0, using that frequency from 2011 to 2016, before their transmitter was switched off.
