UK Base Radio - Southampton and/or Brighton/Worthing

Post by thewhoami » Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:41 pm

Hi all, new here, does anyone know anything about UK Base Radio?

I found a very old thread on here that mentioned they were on FM in the Southampton area, are they still active in that area?

Only I stumbled across them today on 87.5 in West Sussex, rock solid strength, so I assumed they were coming from Brighton.

But, as I drove west they remained rock solid, similar strength to Capital Brighton, and when I checked their website I see they have an event next month.

So, they are either putting out a massive signal from Brighton, or this rig is *edited out location* I can't believe a signal this strong can be coming from Southampton.

https://www.ukbassradio.com

* Mod note - I've been asked to edit out the town names.

Interesting, I guess they could have different FM relays of the online station in various areas - Exeter, Brighton/Worthing and Southampton - impressive if that is the case.

I wonder if this is the same UK BASS as what I get in Surrey on 104.3?

I should be down that way this weekend so can see if the stream is the same as their website which is what I get on 104,3 with the mad hum

87.5 is the same as the website stream, so I guess it's the same as you're getting, but without the mad hum.

Rumour has it that they're putting on more rigs around the southern UK, all relaying the same webstream.....
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

Surprised some idiots haven’t stolen their rigs yet.

I noticed both UK Base and Brighton's CodeSouth had disappeared on Friday and are still missing, at first I thought rig thieves (OFCOM or unofficial) were about, but in fact there's still a carrier on 87.5, just no audio from UK Base, nothing on CodeSouth's 88.2.

Was picking this up pretty much crystal clear all the way from London into Basingstoke earlier on 104.3. Amazing coverage! 👏

Sounding good coming out of Brighton area on 88.8 I think it was, also devastation on 108 was coming through 👍

Code south on 87.5? Someone sounding good!

UK Base is on 87.5, CodeSouth was on 88.2, but disappeared a couple of weeks ago.
