Funky SX (Essex) 103.7

Know its a community station in Essex but have been picking it up in Herne Bay, Whitstable and parts of Thanet. From Herne Bay its directly across the sea as can see Southend in the distance on a clear day, signal seems really good and quite clear with only a little bit of crackle when you hit mega built up areas. I like their style of presenting its still in a pirate way, does anyone else listen to it?

Not really.

They have a nice tx site on top of the hospital. They do get out surprisingly well.

Even tho it's not my kinda station I don't begrudge them a bit of success...

Was picking them up in Worthing West Sussex the other night. Comes in quite often when there's a big of a lift.

They seem to get out really well to some proper random places.

Their tx site on the hospital bangs out.

From listening to this station as last resort because all pirates have gone off, it sounds like they're always struggling for content. hardly any live Djs, it’s always on auto pilot, sometimes it’s left silent carrier (which I didn’t think was allowed). But what really annoys me about this station is they used to be pirates. But soon as they became legal, they grass up other pirates. Don’t forget your roots.

When they 1st started (legally) it sounded like Heart or Kiss, but just on lower power. Guess they realiised this formula wasn't going to work out - cannot make money from community radio. What is the point of existing if your a weak Heart or Kiss copy? They actually sound better now.
As for the signal it may hit out well SE Essex and beyond, but for NW Essex just a few miles from Southend it's total pony - drowned out by 103.5 BBC SX. Some pirates and community stations from London are more audible.

From someone who listens to Project, that's quite some statement...

You remember then? It's hard to find the good stuff at the moment and I even struggle with project sometimes there is a lot of music at the moment that seems to have lost the plot as for flex I can't really put my finger on what it is it just seems to have lost something at the moment

I hear a lot of house music these days that hasn't just lost the plot, it's lost everything apart from kick, hi hats and snare. Proper boring! Ooh look how exciting, this one's got a bit of white noise! BANGER!

The problem with new House music for me... NOT all but most sound too clean and noticably since the early 2000s, by 2006 as example, US Garage sounded sterile. Earlier today, I was digging through my old Todd Terry / Kenny Dope Sound Designs, Powerhouse and Dopewax tracks from 91/2 and those productions still rock, full of warmth and life and tempo and beats still swing. Issues I have these days is overly quantized on old Disco and Boogie tracks to supposedly rejuvenate the original, but set to strict time, for me this steals the soul of those records and its the tempo changes what made them great. I'm showing my age i know, but not saying there is no good House or Re-edits being done today but imagination does seem to be lacking going forward.

That's a pretty spot on comment to be honest. I find it extremely boring. 99% of it lacks any kind of character or excitement.
