Remember when Select were on 99.4 during the week?

...And only used 99.3 in the weekends? Anyone remember what reason they said they decided to do that?? This is when they first came on 99.3 after moving from 89.6.

Yep I remember that. Used to have to keep both frequencies in the presets on the car radio. 99.4 gets out better in all directions around London due to R1 relays on 99.3, so 99.4 is the clearer dial. But Galaxy were established on 99.5 as a weekend-only station at the time so they had to bump down to 99.3 to avoid clashing.

I remember that, they used to play a bit of everything, they even had a happy hardcore dj i think was on a saturday morning, a lot of garage and dnb, that was when they were on 89.6, i think i have a tape somewhere of select fm on 103.4 or somewhere up around 103 fm, is this the same station?

Yeah I first heard Upfront in early 1995 playing Jungle at the time. Never heard Destiny but heard of it.

Now to date, Select get out well and sound nice too. Its a shame we Can't get them here in Oxfordshire because of Radio 1 on 99.1, but you can from Stokenchurch and more towards High Wycombe very well. Be interesting to know what sort of power they put out.

300 and a double off good ground on a good dial can run some serious signal, but defo agree, they got the formula!

It's all about the TX location and the antenna system. They have people who 'engineer' for them who know how to set up. Nuff said...

Edge was on 99.2 around 1998/1999 from NW London, sounded like it was people from Transmission One and only played DnB.

What sort of time was this you are talking of? Sounds like it was a few years later, was it the same Edge?

Those Poles were on 99.3 for a while. I remember being in despair at the waste of good clear bandwidth.
