R.I.P Lee John Tech
Found out the sad news this evening that Mr Lee John Tech has passed away.
I bought my first ever transmitter from him when I was just 16 years old and still at school back in the mid 1990s.
I was in two minds about posting this and don't come on here much any more these days, but I'm sure there are plenty of others like me who will be equally as shocked to hear this tragic news.

Re: R.I.P Lee John Tech
I am utterly shocked to hear this. His poor family he's left behind, I am thinking of all of them right now. He only got married last year as well. He left us way too soon.
On the rare occasions I bumped into him, he seemed pleasant enough and it seemed really strange meeting someone face to face I had heard on the radio for so many years!
I remember all the stations I heard him on, maybe I missed some out.
The first one was Baseline FM 101.2, then Energy FM, All Community Radio, Trilogy 87.5, UK's finest 87.5 and I'm sure there were others too. He kept going and going and never seemed to ever want to give up radio. I didn't realise how well known he was by many others in the same game, so many from other stations have paid tributes.
The stations were so interesting to listen to, a lot of fun and it spread so much happiness to all the listeners.
He even managed to get in the local paper once because Baseline FM 101.2 was raided by the DTI and the reporter accused his station of selling drugs on air. I remember him quickly returning on air and saying 'don't believe the sh** in the Observer!'
I really didn't expect him to go so soon. He was only 48. His last message on Facebook was about having to go to hospital to do with his heart, that was after 6am on Thursday.
I'm still in so much shock, radio will never be the same without him.
I'm so sorry to all those affected by his passing.
I wonder if something will happen on 87.5 to pay tribute and commemorate the colourful life of LJ.
Rest in peace LJ, you'll never be forgotten.

I'm sure some of us were aware that Lee used to post in this forum sometimes. He last visited 7th April 2022, so not very long ago.

Can’t remember when I last spoke to Lee. Good memories from the Rinse 87.9 and trilogy days. If my memory is correct phantom fm springs to mind for some reason. Maybe in between Rinse and trilogy.
RIP Lee.

Yes you're right, I remember Phantom FM!
They seemed to give the impression it was more around the High Wycombe area but the signal still got out well.
I also think it's the only station Lee was involved with that had bhangra music played on it at one point!
Lee you were a very busy boy! I don't know anyone else who set up as many stations as you did
I bet you're busy setting one up wherever you are now!

Freddie I am glad I was remembering right with phantom. I don’t think phantom was around as long as rinse and trilogy were. They did indeed give the impression it was coming from around Wycombe. I remember calling Lee with signal reports whenever out and about.
Happy memories.

I also forgot about Rinse FM and this is correct too. Just there were 3-4 of them about! One was run by Lee.
I do have some tapes somewhere of Lee's stations. One day when I get a decent tape deck, I will upload them for memories sake. I think my earliest one is of Bassline FM 101.2 which may have been his first one?
I also noticed his voice is exactly the same in some recent videos I saw about his wife's flower shop. He didn't seem to age much at all!

Haven't been on the forum for ages, saw this and wanted to join the others and pay my respects to Lee.
He was a Top bloke!
Never forget seeing the Rinse FM stickers placed across the underground baggage halls at Heathrow when I was there.
RIP Lee

I remember the club nights Rinse used to do at Studio 412 in Uxbridge. They were always really good nights.
Had totally forgot about the Rinse fm stickers.

Remember meeting Tech at the UK's Finest studio when I did a guest slot on there back in 2007. Seemed like a sound guy who was pretty engaging (remember being very impressed with UK Finest's coverage/reception report map in the studio at the time!) & it was nice to put a face to the name as I used to listen to Rinse & Trilogy occasionally back in the late 90's. Sad to hear of his passing - R.I.P & condolences to his family.

RIP Lee, certainly remember Trilogy had a huge signal in 97/98 and was checked by lots of us.
