Yeah was around that time. Although MC 2-Shy remained in there until early 2001. To be fair he is/was always more of a Renegade Hardware type of MC.

Such a great station then and now. Listing to this one right now. Absolutely sick set from the Grim Reaper (Loxy) in 2003

I remember them what I liked.. as far as I can remember is they played a kind of more advanced drum and bass
very nice tunes selection. And they always seemed clear to me.

End of the 90s I think. Definitely by 2000! :tup

I spoke to Fujee around 99/2000 and he told me he didn't want MC's chitter chatting all over the music, by then he had moved on to the more darker Renegade Hardware sort of sound and he didn't feel that MC's sounded right over that style of DnB.
Pretty much what I heard. I also remember hearing at the time that Awakening was supposed to be more like a sister station for the MC's. That wasn't the case in the end, as the management had obviously gone different ways.

Interesting detail about the no MC policy post-split! I also remember the amount of MCing gradually declining after 1998.

Tuned into 88.6 last night, wicked live show by Dozer and Nick EP with Hainesy on the mic!

I first heard RUDE FM whilst I was in London, England back in the year 1996. I managed to receive them on my sony walkman.
The frequency I recall was 104.3MHz. My attraction to the station was the selection of drum & bass music (darkside!) they played! (Superb!)
....This is the reason I tune into this station to this very day on the internet. Great station guy's!
All the very best!, DJKM @ TTU.K.

....Some old footage of Fugee talking about and setting up Rude 88.2 back in 1999. (mostly towards end of video)
