does anyone know what off tha shef options there are other than these 2 choices, they do the job no dissing them at all but interested in alternatives sort of getting back into the idea of a little fiddling with a rig something small and not too expensive just for reliving the days on air for a larf every nown and again
or are these 2 the only palyers seems abit expensive now
i likes that pira one but i cannot solder well i can buit not on that level thaey should make them ready to send out and they would sell ok i think 5watss

Price and size-wise I'd go for some of the Dutch gear.

This is a dutch 1watt driverboard with a smal 50-60W amp and a swr protection.

That guy (radiomaster) use SMD/SMT (china) for parts. I don't like smd/smt because they are cheep and hard to fix it. So my NRG tansmitter rules.

You can knock a NRG PRO III or IV up for around £40-50 if you shop around wisely.

When are you lot going to listen and read what is being said. You leave yourselves wide open to comments by the ones trying to destroy the LPFM market in the UK.MiXiN wrote:You can knock a NRG PRO III or IV up for around £40-50 if you shop around wisely.
NRG UK is cheap as MiXin says you can get all the bits for 40 - 50 quid, the 40 W amp for about the same.
Why would you go to NZ and pay Gareth silly money for his Chinese knock offs and also risk the Duty coming into the UK.
So come you lot - Come in and smell the coffee.
Stop slagging each other off, along with the gear that is available and get down to getting the UK back on the map for LPFM

The NRG PLL is mainly for the hobbie station and never really been practical for pirate use beyond the bedroom.

I always found the NRG's to be good, they're stable and the work well and dead easy to put together.
The ones I never personally liked, some may disagree, was that awful Dawson 1 watt thing. I used 3 in various projects a few years back, unstable bags of poo.

That big NRG / Veronica rigs are good to learn, test, and hobby kit building. I don't find very easy winding 6 exactly same coils... for experienced builder maybe. For pro use, there are many more smaller, easy replicable designs. Dawson board is smaller but very hard to build without some rf test equipment... also obsolete design...

Both are kit form but well worth the time and patience to build.

They used to be good, but Marko seems to have lost the plot lately. We've seen lots of his gear around eastern Europe, and most of it was broken! The few we've seen working were nasty, sproggy messes.
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"
