Retune exciter

Post by Maximus » Sun Mar 21, 2021 4:35 pm

Hi necks. I’m interested in buying a rig. The seller has sent me a pic but I don’t know how to retune the pic based exciter.

Does anyone know who can retune it for me please?

See picture below.

It looks to just like the ‘London rig’ board but with SMD parts obviously. I think that is a PIC12C508 in the socket in which case you can use the code that was in the N boards to reprogram it? I’m sure the man himself will sort it out for you! :)

@RF-Head Is there an MRF4427 underneath for the final?

yes a MRF4427
And no not a PIC12C508 that was on the old version
this version has SWR shutdown look at the resistor from the amp to the exciter

Yes there is the MRF4427 SMT device which is situated underneath the board and fixed down to the main heatsink.

Here is a similar design:

I think you might be able to just replace the 8-pin PIC chip, so if you can get another one programmed to your desired frequency it should just drop straight in... :tup

Yeah it looks that simple. Just got to buy the transmitter first.
