Lol I was tricking you to see if you would slip up with the fake to genuine ones. OK so it's official they Aliexpress chips are only doing 20 Watts. I've never tried Aliexpress chips to be honest.
Well I found many supliers are selling these fake only 20W output chips now
Look for the production number under MRF9180 > RR1627E

These are the bad batch
Hmm OK. I'm a little bit baffled then. Are you saying you have it running at 26v with a 15watt drive to run the amp? If so are you doing as little as 36watts?.

So you drive the 15W board with 1W?
The amp needs 0dBm input !! 1mW not 1W
and also 100% sure that it will sprog on lower power output and how do you know that it is clean? do you use a spectrum analyzer?
The 9180 needs only 1-1,5W input so you can drive it direct from the !w exciter
How i know about the 15W board...
It's part of my own design of a 15W transmitter and someone used a part of it to make a 15W amp
Also the amp needs to be on double site pcb and not signle

Does anyone know why all aliexpress listings have the logos blurred?
I haven't any idea either bton. It probably explains how so many have failed to survive at full power. With it been blurred sounds like they are fake so you take a gamble or anyone.

as Brian says they only produce around 20 Watts. I'll no be buying from egnima or alexia express. There fake.

I haven't the foggiest at this point but the ones in enigma shop are Freescale NOT Motorola so maybe they are supposed to have the line ??

we should all probably stop dicking around with these transistors and go and sub in the ones Gareth suggested haha.

Just realised I don't actually know where I put the transistors in my kit ........

The device says 40 Watts on datasheet.
Now what if this was working in ssb would this not make it 150watts?. So to me these things on fm should not be anymore than 40 Watts.

Reason I say it does 150watts is because on ssb you wouldn't constantly key in on ssb is why they survive there. But if we are on fm constantly on 150watts its bount to pop. So 40 to me sounds about right for fm.
