Cheapest, Easiest throw away audio link.
With Satcans being rare as hens teeth now days, what’s the cheapest piece of crap that can link audio ?
Band 1 is easily trackable and Iv found it hard to tune to frequency without the rig interfering with it. (I don’t have the gear to properly tune)
Band IV Iv found is pretty hard aswell as it’s higher up the band.
Ubiquity panels seem quite expensive still.
4G dongles are just the most annoying piece of shit going, they disconnect all the time, Iv never got on with them. Plus you loose all your payed data when the rig gets taken down.
What’s is left to link with ?

I’ve used a 4G router for a setup which has been very reliable for the past few years. Huawei are good, there’s an EE rebranded one which you can get unlock codes for a few quid on ebay

Do you loose it every time or do you hide it somewhere ?

fair enough line of sight is a limitation and they are quite expensive (depending on where you get them)

Butt (broadcast using this tool) is what a lot of stations (actual and pirate) use. I prefer ffmpeg as its more customizable but more advanced. For the receiver end you could just use VLC.

BUTT is OK, but the easiest (for me) is darkice and darksnow.

use a Dell 760/780 SFF or USFF with Breakaway One and a 3 or 4G Dongle. ( Processing - Stereo - RDS and a stream client in one )
Install Anyconnect for remote control - buy a 2 relay USB board from Ali for turning on/off your rig.

That’s proper bulky and you’ll end up loosing it with the rig every time. So like £35 for the pc, £15-20 for the dongle, £30 data for the sim because it will need to be a real data sim or they ban you. So let’s call it around £80 just for an audio link.
Also every time you loose it you’ll have to reprogram the pc and install everything again. I doubt everything will be the same make and model so you can’t just clone drive.

Re: Cheapest, Easiest throw away audio link.
It seems every link device is either traceable or involves installing kit that's too expensive to lose.
Distance permitting, why not use a micro power fm transmitter with a receiver at the tx site?
It's super cheap and no-one can touch you for innocently playing your mix to your home radio.
To me this is an obvious solution yet no-one else said it so I'm guessing it's shite. If so, please explain why.

Re: Cheapest, Easiest throw away audio link.
The problem with that and band 1, is that unless it’s tuned to the correct frequency and filtered to only listen to that frequency, the rf will get into the receiver and block the signal your trying to receive. So putting a standard, cheap fm radio up there wouldn’t be good enough. Especially the crap IC radios they sell today.

Re: Cheapest, Easiest throw away audio link.
Thanks XXL. What if you placed the receiver away from the tx, shielded it and used an external rx antenna?
