Cheap, low-power autonomous rig. Thoughts?

Why someone does not create an fm transmitter hat for the pi is beyond me. I'm pretty sure who ever created one would sell bucket loads.

Simply because it wouldn't be legal in most of the world. Those silly little in-car transmitters are (just about) tolerated, but anything free-radiating is frowned upon.
