Cyndicut Location B 107FM 2008-2009 Dipole1.JPG
Back in 2008 to 2009 this block in Gravesend was used by Cyndicut. It was transmitting on 107.00. I use to pick signal up crystal all the way home back to sheppey and also down towards Thanet. I had hacked a nearby WEP wifi point in the flats and used that to take a stream from the laptop to the Rig.
Also back in 1989 to 1990 in same are there was Force FM who also broadcast from a nearby large house over looking the Thames with dipole at the rear, pic of property attached. Unfortunately i have no pic of dipole . There was few of these types of tall houses next to the Thames that they used around that time. I think there were running direct so kept moving around that little area.

What stations were using the nightingale estate in 98?

I just found this video and I was at the festival before they knocked the blocks down. I remember seeing that one of the blocks had massive scaffolding poles sticking out of a couple of flats on the top floor, one pointing west and the other south. I went to one of the demolitions also.

Nightingale in 98. Hmm that’s a good question. Well, rush were all done and dusted by then right?, I suppose it must have been kool fm? I’m sure eruption used to use the nightingale blocks, I read that on a blog, as well as the blocks over on the Clapton park estate.

My guess would be Kool and Eruption in 98. Could be wrong though.

Look like they were in holly street for a bit. Also nice zoomed in pic on that block in Leyton. Seems they were sharing the roof with another station at the time. Could have been Eruption?

I always look at new things and think of new things mate, but just as I love my upfront music, I still love my old skool music. Same thing init with pictures, films, video games. Any difference?

Anyway it’s Just a bit of nostalgia mate, no harm intended really. if no one replies il probably just not bother posting anymore, which would be a shame. I do think a few people are interested in discussing the old days still though.

That is the red block at Boundary Road, few of us were on those blocks. Eruption were on the red block in 1998 ish when they came back on. We were on the blue with Erotic and Shine aka Pleasure before the rebrand for a while. I've absolutely no doubt Erotic would have been on the red at some point, possibly when Blue was knocked down? So probably is them with Eruption in the pic.

I love the old days, I think we've all got some great stories. I could waffle on all day about radio...lol Love this thread, been following since it started.

Cheers famefm, I honestly weren’t trying to get
on anyone’s nerves. I know what you mean about posting about modern topics. When I’m on music forums sometimes I think like that too, “for god sake shut up about old skool” mood lol. Then other times can’t listen to anything past about 94-95, especially hardcore, happy hardcore lol.

I actually really like this forum, I’ve read a lot of your posts, and tekniks, Albert aswell. There’s a lot of really knowledgeable people on here.

In terms of modern topics, the ones about the future of fm radio are quite interesting. Certainly very sad to see the overall demise of it. Then again great to see stations popping up like that new one in Manchester. I liked that station in Birmingham that I was listening to online, was it called distinct? I even drove through burn a few times and picked them up live in the car on the m6.

Nice one steve, thanks for the info on that. Yeah I do like this thread, it’s pretty interesting to me too mate. Il post up any pics I find on the web if I think they might be interesting. You got any pics from them days yourself?

Was hoping that Ricky from ice and Mac fm was still lurking, he said years back he still had pics and videos of ice and Mac, would have been wicked to see that.

I remembered that dnb station that I think was on the blocks opposite Stratford bus garage. I think it was called industry. I defo remember them at the time having a really early website with pictures of them on top of the blocks. Yeah it was defo them flats cos I had a pal who lived in one for a bit.

My missus cut them up. 😡 She hated radio. No camera phones when I was at it so no back up copies of anything. Probably why I like seeing others pics and stories.

Andy Clockwork posted a few great stories on his site, Andy was on one of my stations for a while, proper DJ and top bloke. Been around a long time.

Yes, St Michael's Tower. Gosport Road, I was on that one as well for a while. We also used it for studios at various times and the small one next to it, Dyke Court.

There isn’t any stations in stow anymore is there?

I’m sure years ago the council enforced new security measures on the roofs ?

Not many towers left there now anyway all knocked down, perhaps maybe just Northwood Tower on Wood Street

Hardly any blocks left, only viable site really is Wanstead flats. Very odd locks for a block, it was a Yale type lock on everything! I had the key and was on them until they installed an alarm system. Pretty sure people have been up there since but we moved when that went in.

I don't remember any stations ever using the tower on Wood Street, never tried myself so not sure the reason.
