Re: Centre force dab
Digital music station Centreforce 883 broadcast French Kiss by American producer Lil Louis and an uncensored version of Baby Wants to Ride by American DJ Frankie Knuckles at around 12.30pm during school summer holidays.
The first track prompted listener complaints because of “a sustained period of sexual moaning sounds”, while the second includes the lyrics “f*** me” plus some “audible sexual moaning”.
DJ Lewi, who was hosting his Lunch with Lewi slot, said after the second track ended: “Do apologise about the last track. Thought I was playing the radio edit. Tut tut Lewi. Apologies to everyone on the last one.”
Regulator Ofcom ruled that the station breached two broadcasting rules, saying: “Both tracks clearly conveyed a sexualised theme which was not appropriate for children.”
Centreforce 883 was founded in Newham in 1989 as a pirate radio station at the forefront of rave; culture. Artful Dodger, a duo whose 1999 smash Re-Rewind launched Craig David’s chart career, were among the artists on its early roster.

Agreed. The host even apologized for his mistake so it should have been left at that. But no, nothing like a little bit of whining to the regulator i guess.

Was this that Fame geezer? We all know he doesn't need much of an excuse to have a moan about anything radio related!

I'm not sure about Baby Wants to Ride but as French Kiss was a number 2 hit in the UK in 1989, yes it was certainly played on Radio 1. 7" edit which still includes all of the moaning:

Yes, I'm glad they have retained their pirate feel as well. I'm loving this station.

The Streetsounds show last night was sheer quality. Morgan Khan in my mind saved us kids at the time an awful lot of pennies(import 12”s) by releasing his legendary Streetsounds label back in the 80’s. This paved the way for music as we know it, & Centreforce recognise this. Well done all involved in bringing this fella & his stories to the airwaves
