Legal station that appears to have some kind of tech problem? Single bleep over dead air. Interrupted a minute ago by a sports report. Then dead air and bleeping again.

Beeping sounds like a test signal, sounds a bit weird to me. Maybe someone took their rig and their testing a new one... lol

They began playing music within seconds of my original post. The whole sports report thing was very strange! Basically you had the guy saying "network stations standby, goal update etc, beginning update in 3,2,1 - goal here at uptown Park, spurs 1 ahead...". So basically the listener was hearing all of the talk between the ob and studio. Like it was happening but nobody was at the studio end sailing the ship? Lol well amateur!

Sounds a bit like those morons at our ''so called'' community station in oxford, Destiny 105.
Beats me how they even get a licence in the first place.

I suppose if you flash money at ofcom's faces they wont think twice before saying Yes there you go sir, bit like that crap thats now finished which was on 94.0fm in London

I can explain this one. The beep you describe is the holding tone for Sky News Radio to prevent silence. Clearly Chelmsford Radio failed to opt out of the SNR satellite feed and return to automation. SNR also provide sports updates to subscribing stations, and that is what you heard.
