It’s good to see new fm pirates popping up lately. Not every station is an internet based button pusher.

Re: F8 FM UK
Does F8 have a web stream anywhere or are they listed on Tunein/another directory for us who don't live in Essex/the far East?

99.6 has to be one of the worst frequencies to use with venture on 99.5 and radio one coming through. Did anyone see who wants to be a millionaire last night?
.Question came on and it was what station is on 97 to 99 fm? Talk sport classic fm virgin or radio one ? The woman didn't know so she asked the host and he Jeremy Clarkson didn't know I could not believe it as 2 of the stations are not on fm

Re: F8 FM UK
I agree, 99.6 is a terrible choice at the moment because of Venture FM on 99.5. Venture FM comes in very strongly here in Bermondsey SE1, no sign of Fate FM on 99.6 at all here, and no sign of Intent on 99.7 here either. I used to hear Intent loud and clear here, but not heard it in a very long time here in SE1.famefm wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 12:06 pm 99.6 has to be one of the worst frequencies to use with venture on 99.5 and radio one coming through. One of the logos on the website at fatefmuk.net actually shows 92.4 as their frequency, as does their Soundcloud, which would be a much better choice, as it's currently a spare channel, and unlikely to be used for legal broadcasting in London in the future. Maybe they need to change frequency?
Additionally 99.5 and 99.6 are likely to become unavailable when the three new South London stations take to the air. Select Radio for one is advertising a Summer airdate on their Twitter feed, with Rainbow Radio and Croydon FM sure to follow this year, so the days of 99.5 and 99.6 being available for pirate stations are probably numbered anyway.

I don't think the new select fm frequency will be anywhere near the 99.point something like this crowded part of the dial isbravedaveyboy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:50 pm [quote=famefm post_id=32260

It's a terrible choice 99.6 full stop apart from radio 1 I am sure no legal stations are going to be given one of the 99 fm area frequencies

Yeah I am thinking either 94.0 to 94.3 might still be allocated to them as both of those were used for V.O.A before that went off and with enough power 94.3 is a London wide dial.

Re: F8 FM UK
Its quite possible that one of the new licences could be allocated 99.5
Those on and around 99.5 would need to move frequency, and anything 0.2 away would need to be on the other side of town and the audio deviation properly controlled as to not splatter the new station and get a visit from Ofcom.
There could be some clambering for frequencies
94.0 is Revive FM from East London btw

If I was the owner of the new legal licence and ofcom gave me 99.5 I think I would tell them were to go and demand something bettermpx wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 11:45 pm Its quite possible that one of the new licences could be allocated 99.5

I agree. If you look at the band there are really only three feasible spare channels for South London, these being centred around 90.0, 94.4, and 99.5. I expect all of these to be occupied by the three new stations by the end of this year. The new stations are to be sited at Croydon, Greystead Road, and Countisbury House. As a consequence of this I suspect several pirates will have to move to different frequencies, Venture FM for one as it comes in very strongly here in Southwark borough.mpx wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 11:45 pm Its quite possible that one of the new licences could be allocated 99.5.

The best channels for pirates to use at the moment are 92.4, 94.2, 94.6, and 99.1. I'm sure it's no coincidence that Fate FM have 92.4 on their Soundcloud logo, even though they're not currently using that frequency.

Re: F8 FM UK
If I was the owner of a community station I wouldn't be very happy being sandwiched between pirates, splattering all over the signal. Don't get me wrong, I'm pro free radio, but just done right. Vibes 93.8 for example are 0.2 from Revive on 94.0 but their audio is well controlled, and they're some distance away in SW London I believe, which is probably why they have been okay.bravedaveyboy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 3:50 pm I agree. If 90.0 is allocated, it should work out okay, Station FM are a professional outfit as are Point Blank, and both of their audio is nicely controlled. Hot 90 will need to go somewhere though.. And I feel sorry for whoever is nearby on the dial, they are louder than fluorescent flares!
If 94.4 is allocated, Flava FM (ex Street FM) from NW London will need to move somewhere.
If 99.5 is allocated, at least two if not three stations will need to move.
So at least four stations will be looking for new frequencies..

I'm not sure, never heard it as I'm too far away, in Bermondsey. Their website advertises 92.2, plus their online audio stream is working, so I'm assuming they are?

That's why I suggested four alternative frequencies for use as and when, assuming they're not already taken by then of course.mpx wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:09 pmIf I was the owner of a community station I wouldn't be very happy being sandwiched between pirates, splattering all over the signal. Re: F8 FM UK
Nomad are listed on Frequency Finder as 200 Watts.. but not listed on Ofcom's TX parameters list
Maybe it's a misprint and they're running 200 milliwatts
