lp dublin stations

what's with all these stations only broadcasting to a certain part of Dublin? Rince 88.1 although their coverage is a little better than it was, nlr 87.6 and more recently U&I Radio 93.2. Very weak signals that only cover a very small area. the rest of them cover the whole of if not beyond Dublin.

I would bet it's because they don't have their transmitter on a good auld hill. I have the same problem here, I can get out 30 miles to the north and maybe 1 or 2 to the south, even with a fat transmitter. In order to get out to the south I would need a 150 foot mast - that'd look suspect on a council house...

Maybe they don't wish to broadcast dublin wide, or maybe they can only work on the station at certain times for whatever reason. It's a non issue, they add something to the areas they can be picked up in

yeah fair enough but 2 of them don't even have proper websites (example one uses myradiostream) and one doesn't stream at all. so their focus obviously isn't the internet

u&i may not want to be on the net, maybe they will be in time. That's their choice either way. nlr are weekends only, so myradiostream most likely suits their needs. It's ideal for stations to broadcast on the net, using a good host and having a web page but they are under no obligation to do so. I really don't see what your complaint is here.

I wawsn't complaining man all radio is good with me Fair duce to anyone who gives it a go it's not easy to set up and put on a station and that I just would've thought they would've aimed higher power and stream-wise.

I was checking out U&I Radio on 93.2fm but it seems to be weak.....can't pick it up inside my house but it is fine in the car.

Could be that they are building a transmitter to boost the signal though because nothing is streaming from their site just yet. Outsider looking in tells me that it could be a work-in-progress and we will see it kick off in a few weeks. But signal seems to be located to a specific region of Dublin and not city wide at the moment.

Anyone else care to jump in?
