Leaving rigs sitting on the top of a block ain't worth a wank jack em in a hole, plate the top and you might find that they stop eating you!

Re: 92.1 Maidstone
Someone from that part of Essex told me that it's some of the old Rise 98.3, Lush 107 and a few other Essex stations. They are getting out well heard it in South East the other week. Goin back a few years Lush 107 was a banger signal, maybe from the same place it's getting out good.

You need to be more sophisticated than that in this day and age. Having it down a hole with a bog standard jack, "locking" wheel nut and top plate is 3 minutes away from it being on a D lock, if you see what I'm getting at.Spokes wrote:Leaving rigs sitting on the top of a block ain't worth a wank jack em in a hole, plate the top and you might find that they stop eating you!

Hardly. I've edited the quote so that it's not 5 miles long, but you get the idea.mrillusion wrote: I think thats what he was getting at but not giving the game away lol
The point made was that hanging the rig underneath a jack, with a plate on top, and invariably a "locking" wheel nut welded to the leadscrew of the jack, would be a much better solution than "simply" chaining it to something solid on the roof. My argument is that it is equivalent to the old padlock and chain, or D-locking it, since these particular measures are so easily bypassed. The standard jack, top plate and "locking" nut combination doesn't gain you much protection at all in the real world and only adds a few minutes to the time required to get at your metaphorical £50 notes waiting on the roof.
Short version: a jack, top plate and "locking" wheel nut are in the same category as the D-lock and good old chain-and-padlock, i.e. inadequate in modern times.
