Hi all, just a quick question
On the way home last night I was oddly picking up lbc on 87.9 as well as the normal 97.3 frequency.
I was heading Southend bound on the a127 just past Rayleigh when scanning through the dial. The car is new so doubt a radio fault.
Was it a relay or someone rebroadcasting perhaps
Any idea

Re: Lbc
Almost certainly someone relaying. Doesn't sound like an intermod/mixer product. Remember those "pure" DAB receivers you used to be able to get which tune DAB stations and relay them on FM. Or could have been someone replaying audio from the LBC phone app perhaps. The thing I don't get is, why relay LBC onto FM when you could just listen on 97.3!
These tiny FM modulators are also really popular. I pick them up quite often in the car, usually on 87.5 or close, and 100m later, they've gone. Usually playing gangsta rap for some reason... perhaps it's not well served by the mainstream

Re: Lbc
Thanks all, didn't think about that. Must have been more powerful than the normal car transmitters as it was crystal clear for a while and I was going at a fast enough speed for nobody to be near me in another car.
