Going back a few years here, but this was a legendary station. I was a huge fan of Upfront and was gutted when they ceased to broadcast. It came at a time if I remember rightly that their events were huge - I recall one at Atlantis on Purley Way (which was a big club) and it was rammed, hundreds queueing outside.

Does anyone know what happened?

Think d.... got fed up with the grief always remember if they went off air within an hour they would b back on 99.3 a south London dial it was destiny 99.3 upfront came after then flashback now select

There was a Polish station on there after Flashback, before Select.

I think Taste went on 99.3 when Upfront stopped broadcasting. There was 9nine3 for a bit too. Then Flashback.

A lot of the Upfront DJs and MCs went on to Elite 92.5fm.

Taste was 92.5 then elite d.e.a went from upfront y o flashback think9nine3 was a stop gap from upfront to flashback going on there ....flashback 97.6 and 99.3 the good days of radio in south london

Upfront last frequency was 96.1 when they closed

Always will b known for 99.3 at its best 96.1 was at the end....not the same tbh

You could be right similar to the end of uknown fm they were going downhill before they closed down

that's true same for passion when they went to 97.9

Passion left 91.8 when the legal thing in hayes took it and I am not sure if the station on 97.9 now is anything to do with some of there ex djs?

They was still on for a long time on 91.8 even when that Hayes switched on.....yes poss might b ex passion dis on 97.9 strange it's called d.vine Philgood and rams old station

99.3 upfront fm def from the crystal palace area

They may have been on that block near Penge Homebase which is between Penge West and Anerley stations. I think Boss FM used that block back in the day?

Yes boss 92.6 fm used that was essex towers

I used that block back in the early 80s! It got out quite well, but we moved to One Tree Hill which was much higher!

I met a couple of the Upfront guys a long time ago in a pub in Anerley. They needed a link receiver (or two) in a hurry, and RH put them in touch with me. They paid their cash, had a swift beer and went on their way. They were back on a couple of hours later
