RF transistors going obsolete!

Post by sinus trouble » Mon May 25, 2015 11:07 pm

Hello Alll!! :)
Ive just learned that the BLF177 has joined the endless list of quality transistors to meet their demise! :(
NXP has ceased production of this component :( Whilst stock of the BLF177 is still available for the moment? the ST SD2931 seems to be a good replacement? does anyone know if it is still in production?
I am as stupid as I look! :|

Alright Sinus.

Not sure if the SD2931 has been obsoleted, however, I'm sure you'll get an answer from support here - http://www.st.com/web/en/support/support.html

The SD2931 ia available at Dutch RF shop if you didn't already know mate.

Mouser sometimes has the life cycles of devices on their pages.. According to this page, they may be obsolete...

Some varients of the SD2931 are available though...

In the 80-90s there were a lot of "found" RF transistors on the dutch market because of philips were making them here in The Netherlands
Nowdays most of them are made in the philipines and not easy to source for us anymore
Also the price for "legal" transistors are expencive
Most new eq use newer type of RF mosfets like the ones from freescale
I still have many RF trannies in stock for my rigs and have them also in my webshop
