All I can remember about that amplifier is that it used a THA15/SD1726 transistor...

Hello producer! :)
maybe you could get in touch with the new owners of NRG? nrg NZ or nrg UK? they may have some
of steve moss's old designs?
To me that looks over complicated for just a PSU? theres more going on? protection circuits possibly? i dont know what you mean by the copper has all gone?? but anyone competent in electronics could easily do a repair! :)
I am as stupid as I look! :|

Judging by your pics? it looks like youve had a blowout around the fuseholder? which indicates under fault conditions the incorrect fuse has been used instead of rectifying the main fault? causing stress on the tracks of the PCB! I would recommend disconnecting the amplifier and other parts connected to the PSU outputs to verify that the PSU is operating as it should!

it was the relay that went i also replaced the fuse

i know have 4 boards the same for one of my m8's @ kanga-produts and looks like setve moss was working on the 28 volt side as well as the power for the pll/vfo side some strange mind steve moss had onwards and upwards going to test them tomorrow on all circuits 12v 50 v and the 28v hers hopping it goes well

hello again producer! :)
that is just an amplifier you have? and not a complete transmitter by the look of it? But steve had big plans for NRG! so it is quite likely that he would produce a PSU PCB universally suited for all his transmitters! unfortunately we only got to see the tip of the iceberg as they say! :(
anyways its likely that the output is causing the problems? apart from any obvious faults? if i was you? id power up the PA from an external current protected PSU on its lonesome to check for faults! ive never used the output device in question? but it should not draw anymore than 5amp @ 50v?
I am as stupid as I look! :|

From what I remember the SD1726 was a similar device to the SD1407, it was actually a 30Mhz device that happened to work ok @ 100Mhz and had useful gain and was dirt cheap. NRG used to sell them on their website for about £30 but if you sourced them out yourself they could be had for much cheaper..

The main drawback was they needed a high amount of drive for 220W out, around 35w, I guess that made it a good amp to follow the NRG 40watt amp...

Also as with the SD1407, its not very efficient, you would need a large current draw to power it to 220W, I would imagine it would need 7-9 amp power supply @50V (assuming 50-60% efficiency)..

Got any pics of the amp? Would be nice to see this beast again :D
