Broadcast Show

Hi there Necks. Went to last years annual broadcast show and got some pictures. We spent more time talking and only managed to get pictures of half the equipment.

You need at least 3 days just to look around the broadcast section. The floor below was all mobile tech with ip links, but didn't have enough time to explore.

Very friendly people exhibiting every aspect of broadcast whether it be DVB, DAB, Radio, Web, Playout systems, studio equipment, etc. The IP codecs were more advanced than NASA.

The most interesting part I learnt was from the kind Aussie bloke teaching me how to align a 7 pole cavity filter using an Agilent network analyser. Got the video as well. Just one millimetre adjustment and it threw the whole lot out.

I've only upped the radio pics as there's tons to go through. The TV stuff would blow your mind.

I think it was taken in the Electrolink stand. Possibly the 5kw amp. It was the new ultra rugged mosfets I think. It was difficult getting tech info from some of them as you can imagine everyone's in competition with each other.

Some of the exhibitors were spot on. An Irish mate of ours was brill, poor bloke looked like he'd had a skin full the night before.

It's all fun, and hopefully will be going again in a few months.

The Mobile exhibitions on the floor below us totally blew my mind. Only had had 20 minutes to spare but the shit they had was space age.

The floor below that was networking and things. again mind boggling unless you've got the time to be taught.

Below that was all sorts of tech like lightening protection through to massive led billboards.

The TV stuff was also good. Blackmagic, sony professional, canon, all that kind of wizardry.

Plus we had a nice big casino in the basement
