Caroline is testing from Suffolk with a 1 kW rig on 648 kHz Medium Wave. They're playing continuous music with occasional identification announcements. It's a reasonable daytime signal over most of East Anglia and into parts of the Benelux, but it's trodden on at night by a powerful Slovenian station. They're begging for reception reports. Give it a listen and let them know how it's getting out to your part of the world!

Getting it reasonably well in West Suffolk on the Pioneer tuner, I've also tried several WEBSDR's and it's audible in Doncaster, Norway, Edinburgh and Germany. (This was earlier this evening).

Whoopee! Not.

Their mod sounds like it's been strained through a sock. There's no bass end, and the top disappears above 3kHz. It sounds like a bad dial-a-disc service on the telephone!

It's quite easy to get Medium Wave modulation sounding good. Pete Chicago used to manage it OK from the boat. A cheap processor like an Innovonics 222 would sound better than the crap they're using at the moment.

I wonder if they're deliberately making it sound bad to push potential listeners to their streaming services? They're running a jingle about "old technology" and trying to suggest that MW isn't the way to listen to them!
